From the Author

It was with some trepidation that I wrote The 6ixth Evolution.  To be the harbinger of future events, especially ones that are likely not pleasant to consider, is a somewhat ominous task.  That being said, I feel it is vitally important and a necessity to offer this analysis, critique and a possible framework for moving through some of the increasingly challenging times that may present themselves in the coming decades.

While The 6ixth Evolution may serve as a dose of reality, it is not my intent for my analysis to be unnecessarily disparaging or depressing.  Hopefully by spotting what is coming, we can navigate our lives and careers and mitigate the damage to take a glancing blow, instead of a direct hit.  Giving us more time to repair the damages and position ourselves better for what is to come.

I would like to make clear that I don’t intend for this text to serve as judgement against generations or particular professions or segments of the population.  In regards to what is to come, there is plenty of culpability to go around and very few come away from such discussions untouched.

What has taken place economically, socially and culturally was, in many ways, almost destined to happen for a multitude of reasons.  While there are many reasons this case could be made, I would highlight what I refer to as the “quadfecta” of complexity--globalism, widespread debt utilization, technological innovation and flawed governmental structures and systems.  While all four of these realities have been increasing and impacting populations for hundreds of years, all have grown exponentially in the past five decades to create economic and societal complexity never before witnessed.

The COVID 19 pandemic has been compared to catastrophic events such as the world wars. It left many to wonder how we are to position our lives and careers for such dramatic and convulsive times.  The 6ixth Evolution offers a road map for sustainability, and even success, throughout these and future challenges.  I sincerely hope this book and framework is helpful to you.
